Antique Hand Saws

They don't make hand saws like they used to. Lucky for me, they made millions of them before I was born. There are a lot of them out there at garage sales and on e-bay just waiting to be had. I am particularly interested in Disston saws. They were one of the first mass produced hand saws in the United States. E.C. Atkins is another great U.S. Maker. Spear and Jackson made saws in Sheffield England.

Two Disston D8's

The medalion dates these saws to the 42-52 period. They are identical. I bought them both for $8 at a garage sale.
The Etch is pretty good on both of these saws

Disston #12 Panel Saw Circa 1917-1927

The Medalion and the finger nib on the handle date this saw to this period

Spear and Jackson Tenon Saw

I believe that the split nuts date this saw to the 1880s or earlier.
I love the handle on this saw. It is both perfect and gorgeous.

E.C. Atkins Miter Saw

I have no idea how old this saw is. If it came with the miter box then it is 1899-1931, otherwise who knows.
